Overheard as we walked about Audley House.

“Isn't it wonderful that we have an aristocracy, so we can enjoy all this?”

In fact the interior of the house is a dark ugly place full of dead stuffed animals; a tribute to taxidermy and vulgarity.  

English Heritage are responsible for Audley House and they promote it with the following description. “The stunning pastoral parkland was designed by 'Capability' Brown and includes a pretty lake, restructured from the river Cam and a 'natural' landscape style of large trees and vast grassy areas.”

However this vast grassy area was utilised as a car park when we made our visit.
