By some morbid coincidence two improbable murder trials are being televised simultaneously, one trial in Orlando, Florida, and one in The Hague, Netherlands.
An old defiant man today refused to plead either guilty, or not guilty to the charge of genocide, and the other defendant a young mother is accused of killing her own child in Orlando.
Fox TV cannot stop talking about the Orlando trial, and are pushing for a guilty verdict. There is nothing quite like a ghoulish witch hunt to boost Fox TV ratings.
Casey Anthony faces the death penalty for her alleged crimes, and for that reason alone I hope she will be acquitted. I have no doubt that Fox TV’s audience are not so inclined.
Simultaneously, General Mladic faces life imprisonment for genocide, and given his claim that he is unwell, he may well see out the remainder of his days tormenting the Hague tribunal and the families of the victims of the massacres.
Fox TV are not covering the Mladic tribunals. Because they are to busy covering what they call, “The trial of the century.” Why am I not surprised?
If you feel inclined to tune into the Fox network, you might have seen Jeff Ashton, the Floridian prosecutor of Casey Anthony, sniggering while her defence attorney attempted to sum up her case and potentially save her from execution. Subsequently you might then have witnessed the three overexcited air-head Fox presenters discussing the trial and advising their audience to disregard the defence attorney and glory the acumen of laughing boy.
On other networks you might have seen General Mladic raise his cap in the direction of the families of the victims of genocide demonstrating his contempt for them and the Haque tribunal.
Just last week a Jury member was gaoled in Britain for contempt of court having been caught texting the defendant of another trial.
Not only did the laughing Floridian attorney get away with his improper message to the jury, he is now given the final address to the Jury.
As a footnote, Jeremy Hunt, The Secretary of State for the Media in Britain, has just given Fox proprietor, Rupert Murdock another foothold on British media by allowing him to buy a majority share hold in Sky TV.
Jeremy Hunt you are a ....... foolish man. Take a moment to view this Fox TV Horror show and please do not inflict this on Britain. Do not move one step in this direction. Not one toe.
Please come to your senses.
