Kuenssberg’s Killer Question

When is it right to kill many good men in order to kill one bad man? LW111

#Sorrel #Lawson #Kuenssberg #Corbyn #Clark31 December 2016

Person of the Year

Jeremy Corbyn

“Principled, democratic, honest and fair minded. In politics, these values count as radical,”

This is what we thought at this time last year but now we can apply the adjectives, tenacious and accomplished.

Jeremy Corbyn has stoically faced down a remarkable degree of prejudiced personal abuse from the right wing gutter press, and the wider main stream media.

The parliamentary Labour Party, the BBC and even The Guardian failed to oppose the bilious  commentary on Jeremy Corbyn. In fact they knowingly accommodated the trash media, and gave them a disproportionate voice, knowing it would undermine Jeremy Corbyn.

Never do the MSM question the policies of Jeremy Corbyn. There is nothing in that for them or Theresa May who’s pantomime PMQS debates are weak and meaningless posturing. Jeremy has maintained his integrity and even admits to “learning on the job”, Nevertheless he has successfully rendered May intellectually redundant.

Donald Trump

The antithesis of Jeremy Corbyn is this man. The MSM would have us believe that Corbyn and Trump have something in common and that would of course be the so call “populism”, ie popularity.

That would only be a good point if you don’t want to discuss actual policy. The MSM including the BBC are failing and that became the story of 2016.

The MSM are charged with the corruption of the political process.

The Main Stream Media are the problem and not the enlightenment.

The Hee Bee Gee Bees

When the Democrats complained about Putin interfering in the US election that gave us the farce of a President-elect Trump, we were then bound to reflect on Murdoch’s part in that election of Trump through the weighted medium of Fox TV.

And then we might consider the small matter of Murdoch’s interference in consecutive UK elections for his own commercial gain?

Media mogul man Rupert Murdoch is the foreign king-maker deciding who will be our next Prime Minister.

When James Murdoch faced questioning by the Leveson enquiry he claimed the BBC had unfair commercial advantage over SKY.

Then followed the Tory trimming of the BBC budget, a corruption and a compromise of BBC independence and indeed bias.

It is inconceivable that the Murdochs did not receive promises from Cameron in exchange for his support.

Murdoch is again trying it on with another  SKY take-over bid.

The Fool on the Hill

Donald Trump is the love child of Judge Judy and Oswald Mosley. He is the spoilt man child, prepared to say anything to get noticed and promise anything to get elected. He courted blue collar white men with promises he will not keep.

He will become the lamest of all lame duck presidents.

He called the system “rigged” when he was confronted by his sociopathic fault lines, but with staggering hypocrisy, as he formerly accepted the Presidency, he feigned love for all the Americans he had insulted in order to become president,

He borrowed the line from the late Hughie Green who, like Trump was also a misunderstood sociopath who failed to resist applying fake sincerity in thick layers.

“I mean this most sincerely folks” Trump said again and again and again.

Unfunny Hilarity

#BBCbias #Hippo #MayDay

Today on PMQs Corbyn challenged May on the subject of New Tory welfare benefit sanctions, the issue and concern of  Ken Loach’s new movie, I Daniel Blake, awarded the Palme D'Or at Cannes.

The Guardian Online picked up on what Jeremy Corbyn had said and which I personally believe to be true.

He said "It’s time we ended this institutional barbarity against the most vulnerable people in the system."

Good point said the Guardian, but then they said that May's response was equally effective and a match for Corbyn.

She said "The Labour party is drifting away from the views of working-class people. It is this (Tory) party that knows how to support them."

This mind boggling claim is ever more remarkable given the endorsement of the Guardian, claiming that Theresa May’s response was somehow justified. The Guardian therefore continues to undermine Corbyn instinctively and without justification or reason.

How did the BBC Online report on PMQs?

The BBC had little to say about the matter just, 79 words more or less following the Guardian lead, but did however dedicate 383 words of unfunny "hilarity" describing Theresa May’s “hilarious” mistake regarding the birth of Corbyn’s Grandson. Its the way she says ‘em apparently.

This of course says a lot more about the sycophancy of the BBC coverage of May, that they had so little or no space to reflect on the "institutional barbarity" discussed by Ken Loach and Jeremy Corbyn.

What exactly is a Marxist?

20 September 2016

David Dimbleby knowingly referred to John McDonnell as a "Marxist" on last week’s BBC Question Time.

And just what exactly is a Marxist?

Dimbleby was of course using "Marxist" as a toxic shorthand signal to his audience, his panel and Daily Mail readers everywhere who have no clue about what a Marxist might amount to. The panel of cronies duly took DimbleDon's lead and abused McDonnell accordingly, as they simultaneously accused McDonnell of abusing others.

We know that Margaret Thatcher was not a Marxist, because she believed there is no such thing as "society".  That was of course the kind of nonsense that set us all on a course of Tory and Blairite ideological "privatisation."

At least we now all know what "privatisation" is and that handle is now so toxic that even Daily Mail readers are likely to bulk at the prospect of any more of it. The Tories are obliged to lie about their continuing plans for ever more privatisation and the Blairites continue to claim that they are free of blame.

Yes, even the dumb arse Daily Mail readers are a little bit Marxist without even knowing it.

Shame on DimbleDon for playing semantic games to help the Tories.

Blairites & Trotskys

War & Peace

Shorthand for BS #ImWithCorbyn #ShiftySmithy

Sadiq Khan has written to me and says I should take advice from the polls.

Owen Smith has also written to me unconvincingly. Shifty.

I have to say that the Labour Leadership contest is becoming more interesting than the Olympics.

Because of The Mayor’s advice I am going to move on and assume Jeremy Corbyn will be elected leader of the Labour Party in due course as widely assumed and predicted by the polls. This does suggest that the leadership contest will be exposed as bizarrely unequal and unnecessary.

However, Sadiq Khan would have me and all other Labour Members change our preference of Labour leader, citing other "Polls". He was vague about that but this is his only reasoning and that buoys me up optimistically.

I say, “Sadiq Khan, do not interfere with my free will. Polls determine what others might want and not what I might want. If you are a Blairite then say so openly, otherwise please butt out.”

Sadiq Khan also tells me I should vote for Owen Smith because he has achieved very much. But then we all gaped and wondered how this much achievement occurred without being noticed by anyone at all.

I am going to assume that the Murdoch, Blairite Main Stream Media and the Westminster Bubble are affronted by the notion of an old man with impeccable integrity would dare sweep away the cozy status quo they all so covet and adore.

I am left with the fantasy that Andrew Neil is posing in his mirror resplendent in his underpants contemplating his best looking TV reaction shot when this news breaks. He thinks he is cool but when this happens, he will break wind.

Owen Smith’s Lunchtime

Owen would see his task as adopting Jeremy Corbyn's policies; a no-brainer since he needs to appeal to the Labour Party membership who, let’s face it, support Jeremy Corbyn's policies.

He therefore is obliged to undermine, if not smear Jeremy at the same time, but on what grounds?

Perhaps the references to Jeremy Corbyn's age is a clue to his thinking? Jeremy’s lifetime commitment to these policies compared to Owen Smith's lunchtime conversion to the very same policies is noted.

Age discrimination is of course illegal, and repugnant, lest we forget.

The only way Owen Smith can pull that off is to say what he does not mean and hope that nobody might notice. But we have noticed Owen.

Jermy Corbyn may be the leader and yo may sharpen his pencils.

25 July 2016

Owen Smith more Blairite than Blair

The Blairite wing of old New Labour does not like the term “Blairite” and find it a bullying term of abuse.

Dodgy Dave

#PanamaPapers #hippo #shoestringonline

Dennis Skinner refused to withdraw the unparliamentary adjective "dodgy" yesterday, and why should he?

Before the Panama Papers materialised, Dave used that very word, "dodgy",  to describe tax avoiding schemes and particularly so in order to traduce Jimmy Carr’s reputation with moralistic rightousness.

He said, "People work hard, they pay their taxes, they save up to go to one of his shows. They buy the tickets. He is taking the money from those tickets and he, as far as I can see, is putting all of that into some very "dodgy" morally wrong tax avoiding schemes."

Post Panama papers, Cameron has applauded Jimmy Carr for rearranging his tax affairs, something Cameron failed to say until he was caught with his privileged spoilt pants down around his ankles.

Obviously you can’t compare Jimmy Carr with Cameron, because Carr earned the money he invested, and Cameron’s cash was gifted to him.

The Panamanian List of Names

#PanamaPapers #hippo #shoestringonline

The idea that the filthy rich pay their share of tax is so discredited that it barely deserves consideration.

The naming and shaming of tax avoiders, who should know better, might just be the wake up call for, and the downfall of, the Tory alternative.

David Cameron regards his father's tax arrangements, and his inheritance as "private", but his "policy" of challenging aggressive tax avoidance was, however unconvincing, a promise and an unequivocal pledge unless we are all deaf, dumb, and blind.

Donald Trump failed to publish his tax returns. Yes, the is a global scandal uncovered by the Panamanian whistle blower.

The poor and the disabled have been humiliated and shamed by their dependency on the state. But now each tax avoider in turn will be named and shamed and reminded that the train has left the station, to use or misuse Jeremy Hunt's metaphor for a political apocalypse.

The first name on a very long list is familiar...

Asleep on the Job

3 Apr 2016

Sajid Javid has now said on Andrew Marr (BBC) that reports that he blocked tariffs on Chinese imports including steel were "misleading". In fact he repeated the irreconcilable opposite assertion that he was leading the EU with specific steel related tariffs. The conversations he had with the EU are hardly plausible given the actual UK vote against tariffs including steel.

He also confirmed “conversations” with TATA steel and pre-knowledge of last week's Mumbai TATA conference, contradicting other accounts that he was unaware of the TATA meeting. Hence the Sajid Javid "business" trip to Australia with his daughter.

TATA have already denied conversations with Sajid Javid that he and other Tory spinners refer to as gospel.

2 Apr 2016

Asleep on the Job

If there was ever an import-export tariff war between Britain and China it was never a conflict that Britain was going to win alone, without European unified clout.

China was about to close the door on British goods including steel because it is now in their interest to do so, and when it happened our Tory government was asleep.

Europe has the scale and the motivation to confront Chinese dumping and Tariffs but our little Englanders in Downing Street were so full of themselves that they failed to support, and in fact blocked a unified European initiative to resist and respond to those inevitable Chinese tariffs.

They also failed to see it coming or apply due diligence.

British taxpayers finance Tory Sajid Javid's department which has oversight of British Interests.

Tory Democracy

On BBC Question Time Justine Greening discussed and contrasted our electoral system with the US system that may soon give the world a President Donald Trump. She explained that this would not happen in Britain because we have the "first past the post" electoral system, as if that were a panacea.

The undemocratic "first past the post" gave the Tories the power to do as they please for five years and they are busy demonstrating how very bad that is for democracy.

Our Prime Minister, and Jeremy Hunt are lying as if the truth were a dispensable unnecessary distraction, in our particular British brand of flawed democracy.

A 23.5 per cent share of the electorate, is not a democratic mandate, however often the Tories continue to claim that it is.

Labour Party grows under Corbyn

Mandleson may have a different message but the rules of the political game have been changed by Jeremy Corbyn. As the Oxbridge political elite undermine Corbyn with smears and sneers, others have pledged and expressed allegiance with Corbyn by joining the Labour Party in ever increasing numbers.

We expect this new politically aware group to observe and record the sins of the political classes, see through the shortcomings of our parliamentary democracy and continue to utilise social media.

When Cameron refuses to answer his PMQS, it is noted without malice. When Hunt hides from  journalists who might not accept his rules about what questions they are allowed to ask, it is noted. When Laura Kuenssberg accommodates Tories with soft questions and contrives the BBC News, it is noted. When Tory-light labour MPs reject Corbyn with pique and resentment, it is noted without malice.

When we know it is wrong, we are more likely to join Jeremy Corbyn's Labour Party where there is, at the very least, a smidgen of hope, and a mountain of integrity.

Tonight he has been all over the media maligning Jeremy Corbyn and damaging Labour with non specific innuendo of what the shadow cabinet might have shared with him in confidence.

Jeremy Corbyn has the mandate, so why is he still lumbered with the Processed Peas.

Let Sleeping Bankers Lie

Under the Tory watch the Tory bank-rollers have made huge profits and paid no tax.  The FCA watchdog has now dropped its investigation into the UK’s banking culture, and  we would have expected that report to examine the cosy relationship of bankers with politicians.

During this investigation George Osborne oversaw the sacking of the banking critical FCA chief executive, Martin Wheatley.

We heard the Tories blaming Labour for allowing the Banks to fail in 2008, as if the Tories were keen on regulating the banks all along.

That crock of BS is what stirred me into action with the Hippo pages.

Person of the Year

Jeremy Corbyn

Principled, democratic, honest and fair minded.

In politics, these values count as radical.

Lynton Crosby

The antithesis of Jeremy Corbyn

unprincipled, undemocratic, dishonest (allegedly) and minded to be negative about others, to put it mildly, and to encourage David Cameron to be even more wicked than he would otherwise be.

Furthermore, as a benchmark for the UK  system of awarding honours, the very reason so many more worthy good people turn down honours handed out by politicians for no damn good reason.

Benn’s Flawed Call To Arms

3 December 2015

As night follows day collateral damage will ensue.

Hilary Benn's show-stopping speech in favour of bombing Syria humbled both party leaders;  Cameron and Corbyn may well feel bruised in equal measure.

Benn was not inconvenienced by persistent heckling but Cameron and Corbyn were. Benn's arguments were laid down unequivocally, surgically, compellingly delivered in complete silence, without interruption, and with every word absorbed by both sides of the house.

Some might say Benn's call to arms was as skilfully nuanced as Tony Blair's.

I listened to most of the ten hours of debate and most of the participants in the debate cannot make that claim.

Every speaker in favour of the bombing spoke of and described vividly the atrocities of Diash as if that alone justified the bombing. Few addressed the question of collateral damage and those that did, did so obliquely, if not dismissively.

As night follows day collateral damage will ensue..

Cameron’s Flawed Call To Arms

When is it right to kill non-terrorists to get at actual terrorists?

If you think it is not right then you are a "terrorist sympathiser" according to David Cameron.

This was not the first time Cameron has used this phrase to insult Jeremy Corbyn, but now a wider number of Cameron's anti bombing opponents, including Conservatives, are offended by his language.

There is now speculation that he has lost ground and will now apologise before the vote in order to regain lost sympathy for his position.

Not because he is sorry but so he can win the vote today and join the coalition of bombers who have killed many more non terrorists than actual terrorists in Syria.

Bully Boys

Whatever you might think about the exchange of personal insults between Ken Livingstone and Kevan Jones, the fact that the news and political news agenda was obsessed with this and not the political differences that divided them will frustrate anyone who voted for Corbyn. Trident is an issue that deserves a debate.

David Cameron was faced today with the PMQs regarding Tory police officer cuts, and simply replied that he had increased numbers of police officers by 500%. Did he misunderstand the question?

Twitter feeds are however full of rudeness about Cameron's lies.

Being rude to political opponents is not exactly foreign to David Cameron and now it seems Conservative Central Office is blind to far more serious bullying closer to home.

Conservative leadership knew of bullying in youth wing for years, claims Tory MP

9 November 2015

I learn today that a Burmah election requires a 67% mandate of the electorate and also the final approval of a military junta. Cameron claims that his 23.5 %  of the May electorate is a clear mandate for him to do as he pleases until 2020.

The Junta in Burmah claims 25% of power without a single vote cast for them, more than Cameron achieved with all those porkies.

Junta envy!

Today, Cameron was embarrassed by two protesters heckling him at the CBI like Tory back benchers at PMQs. Cameron suffered for a moment with even more Junta envy!

How did they get in, Cameron was thinking.

How did Cameron get in, I am thinking.

Dave's Democracy

In David Cameron's first term he was inconvenienced by the repeated reminders of his pledge not to interfere with the NHS. The "no top down reorganisation" promise was the big fat stand out lie amongst all the other lies that got him elected.

This second time around Dave will have to listen to frequent references to his pledge not to reduce tax credits and which is now exposed as yet another lie.

Corbyn's call for less abusive debate during PMQs and elsewhere is unravelling fast, because Dave just cannot help himself to do the right thing.

Grabbing power with lies and a 23.5 % mandate is pantomime democracy. Why would the 76.5 % majority of the electorate who did not ask for these policies in May, tolerate this shameful abuse of power?

And yes, how many of the 23.5 % would have voted Tory had they known the truth?

Could not be clearer?

Why is the Tory audience in Manchester applauding a Chancellor who cannot do simple arithmetic.

The Tory conference speakers have all been told to lead with assertions that they have an “historic” mandate from the British Public to do as they please. Gove's triumphalism was laid on thick with layers of congealed BS. Osborne today likewise claimed the British public had made their wishes clear, and that much "could not be clearer".

I beg to differ.  The 23.5% electoral mandate the Tories achieved is not a majority that any democrat would or should ever recognise.

If the Tories doubled their mandate it still would not be a majority of the electorate.

My suggestion as follows....

David Cameron, the people that elected me the leader of the Labour Party want to know what you meant, 5 years ago by promising that those with the “broadest shoulders” would bear the greatest burden of austerity.”

Did you intend to make the poorest poorer and the “broadest shoulders”  to have a lesser burden today, 5 years later?

David Cameron will then answer with a prepared list of Tory “achievements” unrelated to the question.

JC should then refer the matter to the speaker and politely demand an appropriate answer.

Mr Corbyn has a significant mandate to change Westminster.

Mr Cameron has a 23.5% mandate to represent the UK.

Toby Young here inadvertently compares Michael Foot who lost the 1983 Election for Labour with David Cameron who won the 2015 election for the Tories.

This says a lot about Toby Young but also about the ridiculous, undemocratic electoral system we have in Great Britain currently being exploited by the Bullingdon Boys.

28% ? That would mean Michael Foot did better in 1983 than David Cameron who only secured 23.5% of the electorate in May 2015.

Goldfish named Colin should also take note.

22 Aug 2015

Readers of theses pages will know that senior Tories wrote to me frequently during the lead up to the General Election, but not so since the election.

For some reason David Cameron, George Osborne, Michael Gove, Ian Duncan Smith et al, assumed that I am Tory and wrote to tell me what they thought as if I might be happy to agree with them. I discovered that allowing them to think I supported them, meant that their language was inclined to be more Tory than it might otherwise have been if they thought I was a floating voter.

It never occurred to me that I might be corrupting their mail box,  but what of these so called "entryist" Labour subscribers? We are told that some cocky Tories like Toby Young intentionally undermined the Labour leadership contest by pretending to be Labour  supporters in order to damage Labour. Apparently their intervention, in that case means that someone may get sued for the Labour Party financial losses.  Toby Young was the first to brag about the scam and he should of course be the first to be sued.

Louise Mensch's ham fisted attempts to corrupt the process on Twitter disclosed her feeble and questionable search engine history, says a lot about her desire to be noticed, and failed to undermine her target, Jeremy Corbyn.

16 Aug 2015

Dear Gordon

You had my full attention this afternoon.

Your intervention today, designed to scupper Jeremy Corbyn was brilliant, and in fact moving. I say so without cynicism.

Whoever and whatever might replace the failed challenge of Ed Miliband, it should not be more of the same.

The Labour Processed Peas might attempt to set themselves apart from the Tory pretenders that have conned their way into the middle ground formerly occupied by New Labour, but they cannot. Only the boldest lies might succeed in the middle ground.

When today you cited Nelson Mandela and compared him to the “hope”  you expect to be provided by Labour Processed Peas, and the he or the she who you thought might prevail in the leadership contest, I do despair. There, I admit to cynicism.

Cannot wait to see Jeremy at the dispatch box, representing men of our age, and able to inspire young voters who are old enough to know a decent old man when they see one.

I expect Jeremy Corbyn to demand the disposal of the dispatch box and all other parliamentary paraphernalia. That would be a good start for a better Britain.

This would be the hope worth having.

High Street Angel

28 July 2015

My daily task is to park on double yellow lines as Mrs Monk "runs" into M and S for supper or a sandwich. On this occasion this homeless lady haunted me with a prolonged unblinking stare, or at least until I was distracted by another lady, a beautiful young lady with a strident purposeful step.
Why would a man not notice such a girl?
But then I watched her change direction in a heartbeat, approach the homeless lady, exchange a few words and then stride into Greggs to buy lunch for the old lady. And without a second of delay and hesitation she strode off down the high street. It was all done in less than a minute.
Mrs Monk had reappeared and recorded this moment on her phone.
Sadly she missed the smile that broke out on the old lady’s face long after the angel had departed.

Shy Tories

"In a democracy you are supposed to vote for your personal interests", said Lionel Shriver on last night's  BBC TV show "This Week".

Until she used that sentence I had agreed with her analysis of the notion of  "Shy Tories", who are so "shamefaced" that they failed to give a straight answer to the pollsters that got it so wrong before the election.

My very shy tennis pal, Shy Derk, (not his real name to protect his shyness) referred to the "silent majority" last night.  I was obliged to point out to Derk that the Tories are a "silent minority" representing just 23.5% of the UK registered electorate.

Lionel Shriver also referred to the "lefties" that invaded Iraq. I'm not sure anyone regards Tony Blair as a Leftie. Less so, George Bush and the Tories who voted for the invasion of Iraq and the deregulation of banks, and everything else that ever went disastrously wrong.

13 May 2015

The 23% Tory Mandate

23.5% of those eligible to vote supported the Conservative Party, and enabled Cameron to claim yesterday he had a mandate to execute his manifesto.

Already they have decided to do stuff not in their manifesto.

With no sense of irony Britain's brand new Tory Culture Secretary Sajid Javid, announced yesterday that Strikes will be illegal if Trade Unions fail to get 40% support from their members.

That will be the very first thing they do in the very first Queen’s Speech.

The 23% Tory Mandate will then dismantle the NHS, but not the water cannons?

How is it that the Swiss are so well off?

I asked this question on these pages 2 years ago.

It never occurred to me that anybody thought that the Filthy Rich did not stash away their cash in Switzerland in order to avoid  paying for the NHS.

How odd that David Cameron has been so keen to take personal credit for plugging indeterminate tax loopholes on his watch, but when it comes to the enormous black hole identified by this weeks tax dodging revelations, Ministers somehow knew nothing, and continue to know nothing and therefore could not have done anything about what was so bleeding obvious to everybody else.

So obvious I wrote about it on these pages.

They stash it away where they make cuckoo clocks. I know nothing, but I knew that.

Today David Cameron decided to mock Ed Balls for not having any big business donor friends rather than answer the questions that were put to him today by Ed Milliband in Parliamentary Prime Minister No Answer Question Time.

He can’t help it I suppose because it is in his very Tory DNA

10 January 2015

Hello Sajid Javid

Thank you for your E-mail. Lying politicians make me angry.

I agree with you that Ed Milliband has not avoided the necessity for tax rises to protect public services.

And yes, I did notice that you avoided the awful truth that the Conservative have not been able to avoid tax rises in the last 5 years, and yes, as you know, there has been 24 tax rises since 2010.

And whilst raising taxes by £23 billion for all of us, you have at the same time prioritised a tax cut for millionaires.  The average British household will be £974 a year worse off by the time of the next general election because of tax and benefit changes since 2010.

That is tax cuts for a privileged few and tax hikes for the many.

Yes, Labour wants to cut taxes for 24 million working people on middle and low incomes with a lower 10p starting rate of tax.

So WHY have you this week resorted to pathetic lies about Labour's tax policies?

I might need anger management.

Theresa May promised to give opportunities to poor children yesterday. 24 hours later, Mayday exposed herself politically as yet another opportunist  Hippo prepared to contradict herself at will.  In the Trident debate today she stated publicly that she is prepared to kill 100’s thousands of innocent children.

If you are offended by the NRA logic of the ostentatious baring of arms in order to defend yourself then just maybe we should take a hard look at these Westminster nutters with a new leader.

The bombs possessed by Nato are enough to destroy at least five earth planets. There is only one Planet Earth, and even if you were ever prepared to countenance the murder of innocent children on ideological grounds, Trident is not required as an disincentive.

This is not an “A” level political science lesson.
