Ozzie and Frozzie and Cat Flap Charlie

Cat Flap Charlie has a reputation in the neighbourhood.

He is pushy with our neighbours hospitality and will enter any door or window or cat flap and help himself to the contents of any cats bowl available to him and will charm any known cat lover to replenish an empty bowl, and then show contempt for what has been placed in the bowl, and move on to the next neighbour for richer pickings and more indifference.

Cat Flap Charlie is not the prettiest cat, even allowing for beauty being in the eye of the beholder, but he can also display some disgusting habits that will test our good will. This week he chewed up a mouse and left the half eaten remains at the top of the stairs as a slippy human trap that may have had tragic consequence for one of the Monks, perhaps me.

However his less than admirable qualities should be contrasted with his irresistibly rakish qualities of mischief and fun. Charlie will run 100 yards, like a greyhound down Beach Avenue to greet me when I return home from the CoOp, and then play hide and seek all the way back to the house. He is equally popular with other cats and if Charlie is home, the Monk house will be surrounded by other cats staring in our direction, waiting for Charlie to come out to play. There’s Ozzie and Frozzie and that hit-and-run tabby thief. I think they are all.castrated boys.
