Who Cares about the Salon des Refusés?

The Art Is Crap And So Are The Critics

Paris 1863.

Royal Academy 2010

This painting was created by Mrs. Monk in 2010.

She attempted to get it hung at the Royal Academy Summer Show 2010.

It was not selected to be hung by the academy, and by consolation I frequently refer her to the Salon des Refusés catalogue of names that were rejected in Paris 1863.

Gustave Courbet, Camille Pissarro and notably Édouard Manet's Déjeuner sur l'herbe

Mrs Monk gave her picture the provocative title,

The Art Is Crap And So Are The Critics

It is now hung in our very own Salon des Refusés, otherwise known as The Living Room

The theme of the Royal Academy exhibition was "RAW" and frankly, there was nothing as raw as this in the paintings selected by The Royal Academy selection panel that year.

Opposite the painting in the Living Room is a large mirror through which I sometimes see this painting, and that is how it appears here.

There is nothing more RAW than WAR this day that May and the warmongers will be explaining their actions in Syria.
