The Comrade Trellis

Ballad of Tennis Friday

An idea was formed, roughly 10 years ago
You approached some young men and Tennis Friday did grow

You met in a group, on a Tuesday did run
Mike on his phone, yet you paid for this fun!

The boys were excited, Tennis Friday was born
Col brought in a girl...nearly pistols at dawn

Les, Col, Bob, Tone, Derk and Pete
A delicate girl...and a boy with huge feet

So now we discovered we often had seven,
Not enough for the group.... when one left at eleven

Derk suggested we bring in his son
Some voted No! but the Northerner won!

Then came the cabbie, late when called
And his leftie best mate a Tiger was mauled

Big Kev then joined and was never mute
Singing on court, with a girl in his boot

You've given us rules and given us laughs
The emails, your hat and your T-shirt with STAFF

With Queen Sleeps remembered and Ducks best forgotten
Happy Birthday and thanks from the heart of our bottoms!
